RankFabrik vs Tactiq, for YouTube transcripts

Both offer a free page where you paste a YouTube link and get the transcript back, no account needed. Past that free page, the two products aren't really competing for the same job — one of us is built for YouTube automation, the other for meeting notes. Here's the honest comparison, not the sales version.

Where the real products diverge

Tactiq's published pricing (tactiq.io/pricing, retrieved 14 September 2026) is built around meeting transcripts and AI credits — Free, Pro, Team and above, each tier raising the monthly meeting-transcript count and AI-credit allowance for Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. Its Chrome extension joins your call and takes notes live. Nothing in that grid is a per-YouTube-video API, and the pricing page lists no public API row at all.

RankFabrik doesn't do meetings. The Captions API is the other half of the free YouTube tool above: the same caption data, but batched (/lot, up to 50 videos), timestamped into chapters, exportable as SRT or VTT, and billed per transcript actually returned — never for a failed or captionless video.

Pick Tactiq if…

…you need a Zoom, Google Meet or Teams call transcribed live and summarized by AI — that's the product they've actually built, and it's not something RankFabrik offers.

Pick RankFabrik if…

…you're pulling YouTube transcripts programmatically — one video or fifty, with SRT/VTT and the auto/human flag on every row.

$4.00/1k

Pay per transcript returned — you are charged only for events the actor actually returns, never for an empty run. Metered and billed by Apify; no separate RankFabrik account to open.

Questions

Does Tactiq have a free YouTube transcript tool?

Yes — at tactiq.io/tools/youtube-transcript, paste a link and it shows the transcript, no email required by their own account of it, with a .txt download. RankFabrik's free tool at https://rankfabrik.com/youtube-transcript works the same way, and adds one thing Tactiq's page doesn't mention: whether the captions are auto-generated or human-written.

How to use YouTube Transcript API?

Tactiq's published pricing page lists plans for meeting transcripts and AI credits — Free, Pro, Team and above — with no API row for developers. RankFabrik's is a dedicated Captions API: send a video ID to /transcrire, get text, language, the auto/human flag, and optional chapters or SRT/VTT back; batch up to 50 videos per call via /lot. It's pay-per-event ($2.00–$4.00 per 1,000), and a failed fetch is never billed. Full grid at https://rankfabrik.com/captions-api-pricing.

Is Tactiq or RankFabrik better for YouTube transcripts?

For a single video read by hand, they do the same job. Past that they diverge: Tactiq's real product is a meeting note-taker for Zoom, Google Meet and Teams, with AI summaries and action items — genuinely useful if that's what you need, and outside what RankFabrik does at all. RankFabrik's product is the API behind the free tool: batches, SRT/VTT, and the auto/human flag on every row, built for someone automating YouTube transcripts rather than summarizing a meeting.
